Brent Colburn

Brent Colburn is the Senior Vice President for External Relations and Communications at the University of California, overseeing public communications, government relations, and outreach efforts for the UC system.

With a career spanning two decades, Mr. Colburn has held leadership positions in higher education, philanthropy, government, and political campaigns.

He previously served as the Vice President for Communications and Public Affairs at Princeton University and held key roles in the Obama administration, including Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs.

Mr. Colburn played pivotal roles in presidential campaigns, including serving as the National Communications Director for President Obama's re-election campaign.

Beyond his professional endeavors, he has advised and served on boards of various non-profits, focusing on areas such as veteran support and civic leadership development.

Mr. Colburn is a two-time graduate of the College of William & Mary, with degrees in government and public policy, and has also been a fellow at Harvard's Institute of Politics.

He is a recipient of prestigious awards such as the Department of Defense Medal for Distinguished Public Service and the Baxter-Ward Fellowship for Distinguished Government Department Alumni.

Currently residing in Oakland, California, Mr. Colburn shares his home with his wife, Nichole, and their rescue dog, Dusty Baker.
