Brenda LaVigne is a versatile Multispecialty Physician Assistant (PA) educator specializing in Wound and Hyperbaric Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) School of Medicine.
As a Faculty Instructor in the Vascular Surgery Division of the Department of Surgery at OHSU, Brenda plays a crucial role in training PA and MD students, participating in Leadership Development, Quality Improvement Projects, and Research.
In addition to her clinical work, Brenda chairs the Oregon Society of PA's Multi Committee, contributes to planning Leadership CME Conferences, and serves on OHSU's Gender Equity in Academic Health Medicine Committee's Advisory Panel.
With a diverse background that includes experience in Limb Preservation, Surgical Specialties (Plastic/Hand/Reconstructive/Burn Surgery, IR, Ortho/Podiatric, Derm), Home Care, Family Practice, Urgent Care, and in-home patient care, Brenda brings a wealth of expertise to her current roles.
Brenda is currently pursuing a Healthcare MBA at OHSU, adding a business perspective to her extensive clinical and educational experience.
Before becoming a PA, Brenda held various healthcare roles, including ER tech, Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist, EMT, Army Combat Medic/Healthcare Specialist, Wildland Firefighter, and more, demonstrating her commitment to the healthcare field across different settings and populations.
Her educational background includes a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on Healthcare from Oregon Health & Science University, a Bachelor's degree in Clinical Health Services from the University of Washington, and various degrees and certifications in Emergency Medicine, Physical Sciences, and Mathematics.
Brenda has worked at prestigious institutions such as Landmark Health, ZoomCare, and Sarasota Medical Center, bringing a diverse set of experiences to her current position at OHSU.
