Bree Geary

Bree Geary is a Psychology Postdoctoral Resident at the VA Loma Linda Health Care System, part of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.1 She began this position in August 2023 and has been working there for about 11 months as of the current date.1

Education and Academic Background

Bree has an extensive educational background in psychology:

• She is currently a Doctoral Candidate in Clinical Psychology at Southern Methodist University (SMU), where she has been studying since 2017.1
• She completed her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from SMU between 2017 and 2020.1

• Working as a Clinical Psychology Practicum Student at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Fort Worth, Texas, where she provided various therapies including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for insomnia to Veterans.1

Additional Experience

Bree has also gained experience through various research assistant positions and internships, including:

• Research assistant at the Department of VA, UCSD, where she observed clinical structured interview diagnoses and assisted in administration of cognitive computer tasks for a study on veterans with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder.1
• Intern at The Gooden Center in Pasadena, California, where she co-facilitated and observed multi-family group therapy sessions for individuals in recovery from substance use disorders.1
