    Brandon Philips

    Brandon Philips was the co-founder and CTO of CoreOS, Inc., a company focused on building modern server infrastructure.12 He led teams developing enterprise products like CoreOS Tectonic, an enterprise-ready Kubernetes platform, and pioneered cloud native open source projects such as Container Linux.1

    Prior to founding CoreOS in January 2013, Philips worked at Rackspace as a Senior Software Engineer and as an Engineer of Developer Happiness.2 He also spent four years as a Kernel Developer at SuSE/Novell from 2007 to 2011.2

    Philips has a strong background in open source technologies. He was a Software Developer at the OSU Open Source Lab from 2004 to 2006 and served as an Open Source Advocate at the Open Source Education Lab from 2006 to 2007.2

    His educational background includes a BS from Oregon State University, which he attended from 2003 to 2007.2 Philips is known for his expertise in application infrastructure, distributed systems, and Linux server infrastructure.2

    CoreOS was acquired by Red Hat in 2018, and Philips continued as CTO until April 2020.23 Since then, he has been mentoring and coaching new infrastructure software companies.3
