Brad Mulley is a forest governance expert and blockchain developer with over 13 years of experience working in Central and West Africa.
He is the Founding Director of Gaiachain, a company he established with a team of specialists to tackle forest governance issues, currently running pilot projects in Ivory Coast to promote sustainable practices in the charcoal and cocoa industries.
Brad's expertise includes Chief of Party roles, blockchain technology, forest governance frameworks (FLEGT, EUTR, REDD+), policy development, independent forest monitoring, land tenure systems, and capacity building for civil society and government entities.
With an educational background in M.A. Geography from Indiana University and B.S. Biological Science from Colorado State University, Brad Mulley has a strong foundation in environmental studies.
He has managed grants amounting up to 12 million USD from organizations like USAID, EU, DFID, IUCN, and the World Bank, showcasing his proficiency in financial management.
Brad's career has seen him work in various countries including Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ivory Coast, Mali, Republic of Congo, Sri Lanka, and Uganda, giving him a diverse geographic experience.
Fluent in French and having basic knowledge of Kiswahili & Bambara, Brad Mulley's language skills broaden his ability to communicate effectively in different regions.
His managerial capabilities extend to overseeing teams of up to 20 employees and consultants, demonstrating his leadership skills in organizational settings.
Prior to Gaiachain, Brad held pivotal roles in organizations such as the World Resources Institute, RESOURCE EXTRACTION MONITORING, UN Environment, and Tetra Tech ARD, where he implemented projects related to environmental management, forest law enforcement, property rights, and artisanal diamonds development.
Brad Mulley's dedication to conservation and sustainable resource management is evidenced by his experience as a Director at Rainforest Rescue International, Technical Advisor at Wildlife Conservation Society, and Field Researcher at a Peace Corps project.
He is currently open to partnerships for new pilot projects and invites interested parties to collaborate towards achieving sustainable forest governance solutions.
