    Brad Bass

    Brad Bass is an expert in community energy planning, ecological and economic simulation, green roof and wall design, environmental simulation, mentoring, recruiting, engaging stakeholders, writing and oral presentations, and proposal writing.

    With a background in geography, systems thinking, ecology, visual arts, and philosophy, Brad Bass innovatively tackles contemporary issues like urban heat islands and urban waste water management.

    Brad has been involved in pioneering green roof and wall research in Canada, leading to the development of tools like the Green Roof Energy Calculator, Best Practice Guidelines, and 3-D visualizations of the urban heat island.

    He teaches university and professional courses on green infrastructure and has managed various national and international research programs, such as chairing The Weather Generator Project.

    Brad is known for his work in developing the agent-based simulation platform COBWEB for research in complexity, with applications to areas like climate change, health, vector-borne diseases, retail location, and energy consumption.

    He led the development and application of the Resource & Energy Analysis Model (REAM) to explore options for creating local, off-grid energy plans that are thermodynamically efficient, and has contributed significantly to curriculum materials on climate change and health.

    Apart from his research and teaching roles, Brad is a motivational speaker, award-winning research mentor, and a promoter of diversity in thinking, design, and workplaces.

    He also mentors high school students in science fair projects and the use of computer simulations for studying various disciplines like ecology, geography, economics, psychology, and conflict.
