Boris Vaisband
Assistant Professor at McGill University
Boris Vaisband is currently the Acting Director of UCLA CHIPS (Center for Heterogeneous Integration and Performance Scaling) and a Visiting Professor at UCLA.6 He took on this role in January 2024.6
Prior to his current position, Vaisband was an Assistant Professor at the University of California, Irvine (UC Irvine) in the Samueli School of Engineering, specifically in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.15 His research interests include:
- Heterogeneous integration and advanced packaging
- Neuromorphic circuits and systems
- Design and optimization methodologies, including power delivery and thermal management, communication, and floorplanning1
Vaisband has been involved in various research projects at UCLA CHIPS, including work on:
- Global and semi-global communication on Silicon Interconnect Fabric4
- On-chip ESD sensors for use in advanced packaging4
He has collaborated with other researchers at UCLA CHIPS, including Subramanian S. Iyer, who is a Distinguished Professor and former director of the center.23
Vaisband's expertise in microelectronics and advanced packaging aligns well with UCLA CHIPS' focus on developing new technologies to overcome limitations in current computer chip designs and enable more powerful, flexible, and efficient electronic systems.3
