Boris Isaac Penaloza Rojas

Boris Isaac Penaloza Rojas is an accomplished Electrical Engineer with a strong academic background and research experience in Vision Science and Artificial Intelligence. Currently serving as a graduate research assistant at the University of Denver, Boris focuses on studying how the brain learns in dynamic environments with a specific emphasis on developing a neural model for motion perception and light adaptation. His research interests span visual psychophysics, computational neuroscience, data analysis, experimental design, and machine learning.

With a diverse skill set, Boris has expertise in Python (numpy, pandas, matplotlib, scikit-learn, seaborn, Spark), Matlab, and Tensorflow for developing computational models. He implements psychophysical experiments using Matlab/C++ (VSG systems) and conducts statistical analysis and modeling with R, SPSS, or SAS. Known for his fast learning abilities and adaptability, Boris is driven by challenges and thrives outside his comfort zone.

Boris holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Denver, a Master of Science (MSc) in Electrical Power Systems from RWTH Aachen University, and a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Universidad Tecnológica de Panamá. He has held various positions including Graduate Research Assistant at University of Denver, Research Scientist at Universidad Tecnológica de Panamá, Research Assistant at Fraunhofer IWES Kassel, Production Assistant Intern at Infineon Technologies, Research Assistant at Universidad Tecnológica de Panamá, and Electrical Engineer at Ingeniería Atlántico, S.A.
