Boris Gamarra: Social Entrepreneur and Executive at Recidar

Boris Gamarra is a social entrepreneur and executive who is currently the Director Ejecutivo (Executive Director) at Recidar, a Peruvian company focused on improving the quality of life for low-income households.2 Recidar's mission is to implement circular economy solutions by collecting, maintaining, and reusing used objects.2

• He is a 29-year-old economist who grew up in a low-income area of Lima, Peru.1 He was the first in his family to obtain a university degree, studying economics at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos.1

• Prior to founding Recidar, Gamarra gained experience in sustainability projects, organizing donation campaigns and working at an NGO related to recycling.1

• In 2014, he won a competition at the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center of the Universidad del Pacífico in Lima for his project to collect donations and give them to poor people.1 This led him to convert the project into a social enterprise.
