Who is Bonnie Abaunza?
Bonnie Abaunza is a highly-respected human rights and social justice advocate who has dedicated her life to humanitarian work.1 She is the Founder of The Abaunza Group, a social impact strategy company she started in 2014.13
Through her company, Bonnie works closely with filmmakers, artists, production companies, distributors, and non-governmental organizations to develop and execute social impact campaigns for films and documentaries.1 Her campaigns have addressed myriad human rights and civil rights issues, including child slavery, campus sexual assault, human trafficking, genocide, racial and environmental justice, girls' education, food safety and animal rights.1

Bonnie has also worked on the awards campaigns for many Oscar, Golden Globe and Emmy nominated films and documentaries in recent years.1
As a consultant for the United Nations agency, the International Labour Organization, since 2014, Bonnie assists with outreach to the entertainment community.14 She launched the ILO's artist engagement program, Artworks, and spearheaded their End Slavery Now, 50 for Freedom, and Red Card to Child Labour campaigns.1
Prior to starting her own company, Bonnie served as Vice President of Social Action and Advocacy at Participant Media from 2001 to 2007.1 She has been a human rights and civil rights activist since the age of 15, actively involved in the anti-apartheid movement as a student.2
