Engineering Leader
Bjorn Roche is a technical leader with a strong background in audio and video cloud technologies. One of his notable achievements includes leading the creation of Shimmeo, an innovative app for producing music videos synced to music with special effects at the touch of a button. He is recognized for developing the first web-based Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) that allowed recording, editing, mixing, and applying real-time effects directly in a web browser. Bjorn has also contributed to the development of XO Wave, a digital audio workstation for Linux and Mac OS X. His expertise spans across various areas including cloud computing, real-time programming, concurrent programming, DSP, audio and video technologies, utilizing languages such as C/C++, Java, and technologies like AWS and Go.
Bjorn Roche pursued a BA in Mathematics and Computer Science at Swarthmore College and has been associated with numerous prestigious organizations. He held key engineering positions at GIPHY, where he served as SVP Engineering, VP of Engineering, Director of Engineering, and Senior Video Pipeline Engineer & Product Manager. Additionally, he co-founded Shimmeo, Inc and served as its CTO. Bjorn also led XO Audio, LLC as President and held significant roles at New York University School of Medicine, Rockefeller University, and Cornell Medical College.
