Birdy Bird is the co-founder and voluntary CEO of The Land Back Foundation, an organization focused on land reparations and justice for First Nations peoples in Australia. They have a background in architecture, holding a Master of Architecture (MArch), and have studied social impact at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). Birdy identifies with they/them pronouns and has a strong commitment to social justice, particularly in relation to land rights and community development.124
Birdy's heritage includes being a fifth-generation Australian from both convict and settler families. Their family has historical ties to Wonnarua and Biripai Country, where they engaged in farming practices. Growing up on Gadigal Country, Birdy was influenced early on by the land rights movement through connections with Aboriginal family friends.13
In their professional career, Birdy has worked across various levels of government and as a consultant, focusing on issues related to housing, community development, and land reparations. They are passionate about educating settlers on these topics through the initiatives of The Land Back Foundation.134
