Billy Lane
Clergyman; Human Rights and Social Justice Activist
Billy Lane is a seasoned clergyman and nonprofit sector professional. After three years as a self-taught computer programmer, Billy followed his passion for the church and joined the ranks of ordained clergymen committed to fighting poverty and segregation in Dallas, Texas. Over the course of his career, Billy has served in many roles, both executive and managerial, working alongside overworked mothers, fathers, and underserved students, to create positive change in the systems impacting disenfranchised communities. Billy has studied theology at Dallas Theological Seminary, business management at LeTourneau University, human rights and social justice at Southern Methodist University, and computer-aided design/drafting at Eastfield College. He has served as an Associate Pastor at Spring Valley United Methodist Church, Independent ESL Instructor at Dallas Public Library, Executive Director at The Dallas Bethlehem Center, Managing Director at Per Scholas, and Associate Vice President at Dallas County Medical Society. In his most recent role as Interim Executive Director of After8toEducate, Billy has shown his dedication to fighting systemic barriers to education for at-risk youth.
