Bhaskarjyoti Das is an accomplished design researcher with a multifaceted educational and professional background that has equipped him with the skills to innovate in the fields of industrial and product design. He began his academic journey at the renowned Delhi Public School - Dhaligaon, where he laid a strong foundation for his future endeavors. He then pursued a Bachelor of Technology with Honours (B.Tech. Hons.) in Chemical Engineering at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar. This rigorous program provided Bhaskarjyoti with a solid grounding in engineering principles, alongside critical thinking and problem-solving skills essential in today's technology-driven world.
To further enhance his expertise, Bhaskarjyoti transitioned into the creative realm of design and completed a Master of Design in Industrial and Product Design at the National Institute of Design. His studies in this esteemed institution gave him a strategic perspective on design processes, enabling him to merge functionality with aesthetics, catering to user experience and market demand. It was here that he cultivated his passion for service design, which emphasizes the improvement of service experiences through thoughtful design.
In his professional journey, Bhaskarjyoti has embraced various roles that reflect his dedication to design research and innovation. Currently, he serves as a Service Design Researcher at the Tata Research Development and Design Centre (TRDDC), where he contributes to projects that combine technology and human-centered design. At Tata, he leverages his expertise to create impactful design solutions that resonate with the end-users, thereby enhancing the company's service offerings.
Prior to his role at Tata, Bhaskarjyoti was a Schmidt-MacArthur Fellow at the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, an organization renowned for its commitment to sustainability and circular economy principles. This fellowship allowed him to further explore sustainable design practices and collaborate with thought leaders in the field to address pressing environmental challenges. During his time at the foundation, he worked on research and projects that promoted sustainable principles within the product and service design sectors.
Additionally, Bhaskarjyoti has valuable experience as a Design Research Intern at Onio Design Pvt. Ltd., where he contributed to various design research initiatives. His role involved engaging with users to gather insights that inform design decisions and enhance product offerings. He also completed internships at Indian Oil Corporation Limited and the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited, where he gained a diverse perspective on industrial processes and research practices. These experiences across different sectors have enriched his approach to design, enabling him to apply engineering principles in innovative ways to address complex challenges in design and service policies.
