Leslie Rinchen-Wongmo is a skilled textile artist and teacher, renowned for her mastery of the sacred Tibetan tradition of fabric art. Rinchen-Wongmo's work is a representation of Buddhist meditation that is intricately stitched into exquisite figurative mosaics of silk, rendering her pieces some of the rarest and most iconic works of Tibetan art. Her creations have been displayed at international exhibitions and have been featured in prominent magazines such as Fiber Art Now and Spirituality & Health. After completing her apprenticeship, Rinchen-Wongmo was urged by His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, to bring the transformative power of Tibetan appliqué to the West. Her forthcoming book, "Threads of Awakening: The Sacred Power of Tibetan Textile Art," will represent the first book in any language to explore the ancient art of Tibetan appliqué, revealing the unique stitches, stitches stories, and meanings behind symbols of Buddhist spirituality. Rinchen-Wongmo is also the founder of the Stitching Buddhas Virtual Apprentice Program, which seeks to teach women around the globe the sacred craft of Tibetan appliqué, offering an opportunity to connect creatively and spiritually. She has studied Environmental Design, Women's Studies, and Built Environment at UC Santa Cruz and UCLA School of Architecture & Urban Planning. She has also earned an MBA in Urban Land Economics and Not-for-profit Management at UCLA Anderson School of Management.
