Staff Software Engineer

Structured a new SRE Org with achievements like: 
- On-call rotation system loved by the engineering org. This system improved docs on systems in each team, as well as communications between growth and engineering;
- Incident Response Protocol that demonstrably increased the availability of our systems. Responsible for defining internal and public post-mortem structure. Reviewed several public reports and communicated them to largest customers. Nurtured the incident review weekly meeting to talk about incidents as well as define follow-up actions.

Led VTEX IO org and product development. VTEX IO allows clients to extend the platform using VTEX's infrastructure for resilience and scalability.
- Restructured org leading to teams with clear purpose and faster deliveries;
- Introduced agile processes like weekly reviews, that enhanced both the senses of urgency and progress in the org.
- Led the transformation of the store framework product from a platform detractor, reason for churn of important clients, to a modern version currently with a waiting list. It has now become a source of new clients. This system sports 99.99% availability over the last 6mos of 2021 and stores with incredible performance of 90+ in Lighthouse.
- Improved relationships fostering better communications between teams inside the org, teams in VTEX IO and engineering, and between growth and product.
- Been a real ally of the growth team, always going above and beyond to ensure customers were well served, with many customer meetings to hear their pain points and plan follow-up actions.

Part of the IPO readiness and launch team:
- Responsible for a significant part of the risk factors document regarding technology risks;
- Part of the presentation to banks to explain VTEX IO purpose and vision, as well as how composability is important for the platform and for retailers;
- Worked closely with engineers to minimize exposure to security and availability risks that could jeopardize the IPO launch.

* Senior engineer in the Workplace Acquisitions team.
* Responsible for several improvements in the user acquisition flow leading to more MAU.
* Designed and implemented a targeting framework that uses public data about companies all around the world for better understanding users that are signing-up for the product and thus customize the sign-up experience.
* Was one of the lead engineers in a major restructuring that happened on Workplace's codebase in 2019. This allowed the product to grow further and users to have multiple separate instances of Workplace, where in the past each e-mail was locked into one.
* Worked closely with the other engineers in the team, coaching and driving systematic improvement of our processes and specially our test coverage and tools.

* Engineering management of 6 people. Had a lasting positive impact introducing a culture of Open-Source.
* Responsible for the realtime multiplayer capabilities for games like Castle Crush, War Machines and Sniper 3D.
* Executive Producer for the BlockCraft 3D game, a game with 1MM+ users. Responsibilities include management of the engineering team, hiring, coding standards and quality, product roadmap & game design.
* Management of several interns with very positive feedback. The overall theme was that the leadership afforded them freedom to innovate and explore.
* Became the “face” for the company in events conducted in universities all through the country. This has led to several junior high-performance hirings.

Backend Manager and Game Producer

* Managed more than 60 people: developers, project managers and UX designers, in 12 teams distributed in two locations.
* When the company decided to open a new office in Porto Alegre, HR meant to hire a recruiting company. I convinced the board to instead do a public Hackathon for Engineers and Designers.
* I created a landing page where participants could express their interest in attending the event. The response was overwhelming with more than 800 interested people.
* Organized and conducted the event, which led to 8 hirings for the new office, as well as improve our brand in the region, according to later hires.

Engineering Manager

* Responsible for the overall architecture of the CMS used by journalists all across the country for around 7 years.
* Tech Lead for the Home Page team. Performed several management tasks like hiring, career management and conflict resolution as the team had no formal manager.
* Globo.com had a big problem with image storage and performance. I designed thumbor, which grew into a very important infrastructure piece in companies all around the world. This allowed us to stop worrying about images sizes, as well as provided the end-users with an overall improvement in performance.
* My team won company awards for Innovation, Engineering and Collaboration.
* Integrated Google's WebP at globo.com seamlessly, which led to an improvement in the portal's performance with images 20-60% smaller (depends a lot on the case).
* Implemented progressive image loading for the home page of the portal, a technique that was later on used all through the company. This technique helped shorten our first paint time significantly.

Tech Lead

* The customer required integration of a recommendation engine with some internal systems like CRM and ERP.  Contributed with the stability of this mission critical system with a very thorough test suite in C#.
* Created a tool that the team used for Acceptance Tests. This has improved readability as well as resilience of our test suite.
* Due, in part, to my effort with testing resilience and coverage, the customer was able to launch a 1y effort by our team with zero issues.
