    Benny Chen is a seasoned professional with expertise in geospatial modelling, intelligence, and visualization, backed by over 15 years of software engineering and system architecture experience.

    He holds a PhD in Geomatics from the University of Melbourne, which he obtained in 2013.

    Currently serving as a Research Fellow at the Centre for Spatial Data Infrastructures & Land Administration (CSDILA), Centre for Disaster Management & Public Safety (CDMPS), and Centre for Advanced Manufacturing of Prefabricated Housing (CAMP.H) in addition to being a guest lecturer and tutor at the University of Melbourne for three postgraduate subjects.

    In his career, Benny has led various technical teams working on ARC and CRC projects, establishing research collaborations with both national and international partners.

    His research interests cover a broad spectrum including digital spatial data infrastructure, spatial-temporal analysis, disaster modelling, BIM/GIS integration, 3D cadastre, digital subdivision, land modernization, agent-based simulation, IoT and sensor network, geo-bigdata mining, and machine learning.

    Benny Chen pursued his education at Beijing University of Chemical Technology, where he studied for a Master of Computer Applications (MCA) and a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Computer Science. He later obtained his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Geomatics from the University of Melbourne.

    Throughout his professional journey, Benny has held various roles such as Research Associate at The World Bank, Research Associate at CSDILA, Research Assistant at the Department of Primary Industries & Regional Development (DPIRD) in Victoria, and Senior Software Engineer & Assistant Development Manager at Samsung Opentide China.
