Bennett Nemser
Senior Program Officer at Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation
Bennett Nemser is currently the Chief Program Officer at the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation, a role he has held since January 2023.2 Prior to this, he served as the Senior Program Officer at the same foundation from December 2017 to December 2022.2
Dr. Nemser has an extensive background in public health and global health systems. He holds a Ph.D. in Public Health from the University of the Western Cape, which he completed between 2016 and 2022.2 His educational background also includes a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from Columbia University (2005-2007), a Master of Business Administration in Finance and Information Technology from the University of Delaware (1999-2001), and a Bachelor of Science from the same institution (1995-1999).2
In his current role at the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation, Dr. Nemser manages various health portfolios, including the Cohen Psychedelic Research & Health Initiative and the Cohen Lyme & Tickborne Disease Initiative.1 His experience in global health is extensive, having previously worked as a Senior Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Consultant for both UNICEF and the World Health Organization (WHO).12
Before joining the foundation, Dr. Nemser held several positions at Columbia University, including Data Systems Manager and Epidemiologist.1 His career also includes experience in governmental finance, having served as the Chief Financial Officer for the Office of the Rhode Island General Treasurer and as a Legislative Budget Analyst for the Rhode Island House of Representatives.2
Dr. Nemser's diverse background in public health, business administration, and governmental finance has equipped him with a unique skill set that he brings to his role at the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation, where he contributes to various health-related initiatives and research programs.
