    Benjamin Schneider is a historical social scientist who specializes in work and wellbeing research. He is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Center for Welfare and Labor Research at Oslo Metropolitan University.1 Before pursuing his PhD, Schneider worked as a Research Associate for the Jericho Project, a New York-based housing assistance organization.1

    Schneider completed his PhD at the University of Oxford, where he focused on analyzing the impact of innovation on work from the Industrial Revolution to the 20th century. As part of his doctoral research, he developed the Historical Job Quality Indicators (HJQI), which is the first system for measuring job quality in the past.1

    In addition to his work with the Jericho Project, Schneider has contributed to other research initiatives, including the Freedom on the Move project and the compilation of "American Capitalism: A Reader".1

    Currently, Schneider leads the Work and Wellbeing in History project, which is funded by the Center for Advanced Study at the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters.1
