My practice focuses on representing corporate policyholders in complex insurance disputes in federal and state court. My experience extends to numerous types of insurance coverage, including commercial general liability, directors and officers, errors and omissions, cyber, political risk, and music tour non-appearance policies.  I have represented clients spanning the manufacturing, real estate, technology, and entertainment sectors.  

I also maintain an active pro bono practice in which I represent students with special education needs and assists them in obtaining appropriate educational services in public and private schools.

Represented corporate clients in the manufacturing, real estate, technology, and entertainment sectors in complex commercial litigation related to insurance coverage issues. Also represented the State of Delaware and the State of Ohio as outside counsel in landmark civil actions.  

Pro bono practice included submitting petitions for certiorari before the Supreme Court of the United States on behalf of criminal defendants whose constitutional rights have been violated, representing children with special needs in obtaining appropriate educational services, and assisting individuals who have been involuntarily committed due to alleged mental health issues.

Gilbert LLP

Handled a large caseload with responsibility for determining strategy and negotiating with opposing counsel.  My administrative law practice responsibilities included preparing expert witnesses, drafting and arguing dispositive and discovery motions, and serving as first or second chair in numerous multi-day administrative hearings before state agencies.  As first or second chair attorney, I often delivered opening and closing statements, direct and cross-examined witnesses, and argued motions.  

My federal courts practice responsibilities included drafting and oral arguments on dispositive and evidentiary motions before federal district courts such as the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.   Actively involved in appellate work, including drafting briefs for cases in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.  I have been personally cited with approval in an opinion by Judge David S. Tatel of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
