Ben van den Heever, the CEO of Brooklyn Biltong, hails from Pretoria, South Africa, where he grew up immersed in the art of making delicious biltong from his grandfather's butchery.
After relocating to Brooklyn, NY, Ben and his wife Emily introduced biltong, a South African delicacy, to the American market, starting their journey in 2012 by creating a buzz with their friends at their wedding reception.
Driven by a passion to not only share the flavors of South Africa but also make a positive impact in their community, Brooklyn Biltong runs the 'Eat and Feed' initiative, donating 10% of their profits to provide biltong to local Brooklyn organizations like Chips through City Harvest, promoting both cultural exchange and social good.
Ben's professional background includes roles as a Software Engineer at MODEL MAKER SYSTEMS, PHP Developer at ROKKAN, and Software Engineer at Oddcast, underpinned by his education with an Associate's degree in Computer Software Engineering from CTI Education Group.
