Ben LaBolt

Ben LaBolt is currently the White House Communications Director for President Biden, a position he has held since March 2023.14 Prior to this role, he was a partner at Bully Pulpit Interactive (BPI), a strategic communications and advertising agency.12
LaBolt has an extensive background in political communications:
- He served as the national press secretary for President Obama's re-election campaign in 2012.12
- He was the communications director for Rahm Emanuel's first campaign for Mayor of Chicago.13
- He worked as a White House spokesman during the confirmations of Justices Sotomayor and Kagan to the Supreme Court.23
In 2013, LaBolt co-founded The Incite Agency, which later merged with BPI in 2016.24 At BPI, he advised high-profile clients including Airbnb, Sonos, Thumbtack, Uber, Google, YouTube, and major foundations like Bloomberg Philanthropies and the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.2
LaBolt graduated from Middlebury College with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.13 He is openly gay and made history as the first openly gay White House Communications Director.45
In August 2024, LaBolt was promoted to Senior Advisor to the President, succeeding Anita Dunn.4
