Mytoan Nguyen-Akbar is a highly educated and accomplished individual with a diverse background in philosophy, sociology, public policy, and international affairs. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Philosophy, Sociology from the prestigious University of Wisconsin-Madison, and also studied at the Pontificia Universidad Católica De Chile, the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of Melbourne.

Nguyen-Akbar has held a variety of roles throughout her career, including Regional Affiliate at the Center for Studies of Demography and Ecology at the University of Washington, Impact and Assessment Manager at the Office of Arts and Culture at the City of Seattle, Mellon and ACLS Public Fellow at the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS), Adjunct Faculty of Sociology at Seattle University, and Asian American Cultural Specialist at South Seattle Community College.

She has also served as a Visiting Scholar at the University of Washington Henry M Jackson School of International Studies, a Consultant at Rainier Valley Corps, a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Puget Sound, and a Senior Teaching Assistant for Methods in Sociological Research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Nguyen-Akbar has also worked as a Policy Analysis and Communications Instructor at UC Berkeley and as a Managing Editor at BN Magazine.

Throughout her career, Nguyen-Akbar has developed expertise in demography and ecology, sociology, and cultural studies, among other topics. She has also developed skills in policy analysis, communications, and teaching, making her a valuable asset to any organization focused on these areas.
