Maureen Lynch

Maureen Lynch is an experienced Assistant Professor who focuses her research on the skeletal mechanical environment and its regulation of cancer. She takes a novel approach to understanding cancer pathogenesis by correlating cellular function with physical factors such as tissue-level changes in tumor burden and skeletal tissue strength. Her long-term goal is to prevent bone metastases and reduce cancer-associated reductions in bone strength by identifying new therapeutic targets. With an education in mechanical engineering and physiology, Lynch has completed her PhD, Masters, and Bachelors at Cornell and Clemson University.

At Cornell, Lynch held positions as a Postdoctoral Fellow and Graduate Student. Additionally, she gained industry experience as a Co-op at General Electric. As an Assistant Professor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Lynch has dedicated herself to research into the causes of cancer and bone metastasis.
