In 2007 Tuomas J. Lukka, PhD. and Harri Valpola, PhD (my science idols!) asked me to co-found an artificial intelligence/robotics company. Seeking for the specific product idea I organized some 150 meetings and we noticed that automated processes for odd-formed, varying shaped objects did not exist. The specific robotic recycling idea came to me when I was watching a documentary, in which a B52 bomber was crushed and recycled by hand picking. During my 7 years in the company I participated in raising ~20 million € funding to the company, so I guess the product idea was not all that bad. The multibillion potential is definitely there, let's see how the story continues!

As I like partying and having fun (not that I would have time for it nowadays) I decided to invest in a night club. I was pretty sure that I was going to loose the money, but a miracle happened and it was actually good business. As other nightclubs went bankrupt we won e.g. "Kauppalehti Menestyjä" award for financial excellence three years in a row and CITY-lehti best bar award three years in a row. I'm especially proud of coming up with the Personal Jesus service product (mentioned in e.g. New York Times). Beware, CUBA! might come back when you least expect it.

As I fell in love with the team that realized the first commercial Finnish virtual reality applications for my company Micro Devices Group Ltd., I said yes when they invited me to co-found Hybrid Graphics Ltd. There I led marketing and brand strategy -- and participated in raising multiple funding rounds. I gained in-depth understanding of computer graphics technologies and worked with totally genius programmers. Then, with Mr. Harri Holopainen (while a bit drunk) we came up with the "Mobile Graphics Framework" concept. In addition to all the wonderful technology it might have been just that that productization/branding idea that lead to the 30 million € exit to NVIDIA.

Back in 1995 there was no university-level education available for advertizing, but I managed to get in to SEK & GREY advertising agency, which was called (or ridiculed) the "university of advertizing" of the day. After a while it started pretty OK as one of my films won dozens of awards but something was missing. I felt I was not working for myself -- and the advertising work included no technical/scientific elements. To counter this I also imported virtual reality helmets to Finland via my own company (Micro Devices Group Ltd), and after realizing the first commercial virtual reality applications In Finland I was ready to quantum leap into that direction.

Raptori was Finland’s first ever electronic dance music pop group. Iti has sold 160 000 records so far in Finland. We originally promised to be a here-today-gone-tomorrow phenomenon and then make a comeback once every ten years. And that we did: From 1990 to 1992 we were the most popular band in Finland, after which they have made successful comebacks in 2000 and 2010. So you should be very afraid of 2020.

As a youngster I often worked in my dad's movie company (1.5 years all together). By doing this I gained in-depth understanding of movie making, which is nice nowadays. We also worked pretty hard (long days, heavy equipment), which still helps when I need to get things done.
