Barry Smith

Barry Smith is a highly skilled Senior through Life Services Consultant with a wealth of experience in managing complex Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) programmes. He specializes in UK MOD procurement projects and has a detailed knowledge of relevant ILS standards, such as the Defence Standard 00-600 and the Defence Logistics Framework. Barry is a qualified Electronics Engineer and a Member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET), with 38 years of experience in support solution development across a wide range of military systems in all three service domains.

Before his eight-year employment at QinetiQ as a Through Life Services Senior Consultant, Barry served for 30 years in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) as a Radar Technician, Artificer, and Systems Engineer. In his role as a Brigade Electrical and Mechanical Engineer, he was responsible for the maintenance and equipment support of various military equipment. These include surveillance radar, mortar locating radar, fire control equipment, wheeled and tracked vehicles, generators, specialist surveillance and internal security equipment, small arms, surface to air missile systems, and tactical unmanned air vehicle systems.

Barry studied HNC Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Electro-technology: Distinction at the School of Electronic Engineering, Arborfield. He has been part of several organizations such as LSC Group, Atlas Elektronik UK, BABCOCK, among others.
