Barry Parker

Barry Parker is a dedicated professional currently serving as the Department Chair and Assistant Professor in the Exercise Science Department at Shenandoah University in Winchester, VA.

With a strong educational background, Barry earned a PhD in Physical Education specializing in Exercise Physiology from Springfield College, where he also obtained a Master's Degree in Exercise Science with a focus on Strength and Conditioning.

Barry Parker has an extensive experience working as a collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coach at various levels including DI, DII, and DIII.

Certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS*D) and in Functional Movement Screen (FMS) Level-1, Barry has a solid foundation in the field.

Barry Parker has taught numerous courses in Exercise and Sport Science at institutions like Springfield College, Fitchburg State University, and the University of Rhode Island.

In addition to teaching, Barry has supervised interns across the Northeast and beyond, served on department and institutional committees, and contributed as a manuscript reviewer for the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research.

Actively involved in the health and fitness field, Barry Parker is affiliated with several professional organizations including ACSM, VAHPERD, and PAMA.

His academic journey also includes a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Theatre from the University of Florida.

Barry has held key positions such as Committee Chair and State/Provincial Director at the NSCA, showcasing his leadership and commitment to the field.
