Retired from Goldman Sachs as a Managing Director
Barry Olson was a Managing Director in the Real Estate Principal Investing Group of the Merchant Banking Division at Goldman Sachs.12 He retired from Goldman Sachs in 2021 after a 24-year tenure with the firm.2 During his time at Goldman Sachs, Olson was responsible for sourcing, underwriting, and structuring commercial real estate debt and equity investments.1 He played a key role in starting and leading several debt platforms within Goldman Sachs, which were responsible for originating investments in commercial real estate projects totaling over $80 billion in total capitalization.1
Prior to his career at Goldman Sachs, Olson worked in Commercial Real Estate lending at Bank of America and headed the Real Estate Syndications and Mezzanine Debt platform for JP Morgan Chase in Texas.13 He received a BBA from the University of Wisconsin and an MBA from Southern Methodist University's Cox School of Business.12
