Barbara Vrede

Barbara Vrede is an accomplished professional with a strong background in business strategy, sustainability, and ESG.

She holds a Master of Business Administration from Columbia Business School, a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of St.Gallen, and has also studied at the National University of Singapore.

Currently, Barbara is the Head of Strategy, Sustainability, and ESG at Novartis, where she leads in shaping the company's strategic direction while focusing on sustainability and environmental, societal, and governance initiatives.

Before her current role, Barbara held the position of Director of Corporate Strategy at Novartis, where she was instrumental in driving the company's long-term growth and success.

Prior to joining Novartis, Barbara gained valuable experience at McKinsey & Company, where she served as a Business Analyst, Fellow, Associate, and later as an Engagement Manager.

Additionally, Barbara has a diverse background, having worked as a Trainee at the European Parliament and completed internships at McKinsey & Company, Deloitte M&A Advisory, and LBBW Sales Capital Markets.
