Barbara Morrison is a prominent Bay Area business leader and civic advocate, known for her significant contributions to small business financing. She is the founder and president of TMC Financing, a certified Development Company that specializes in providing SBA commercial real estate financing. Since its inception in 1981, TMC Financing has grown to become the largest CDC in the United States, facilitating over $14 billion in loans for more than 7,000 small businesses across California, Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, and Hawaii, which has helped create approximately 60,000 jobs.12
In 2018, Morrison expanded her impact by founding TMC Community Capital (TMC CC), an online microlender aimed at supporting underserved entrepreneurs, particularly women and people of color. Under her leadership, TMC CC has disbursed over $7 million in loans, with a significant portion benefiting women-owned and minority-owned businesses.13
Morrison's career has been marked by her dedication to economic development and advocacy for small business owners. She previously served as the deputy director of the Mayor’s Office of Economic Development in San Francisco and has held positions as a city council member and mayor of Belvedere, California. Throughout her career, she has received numerous awards for her contributions to the industry, including the Most Admired CEO award from the San Francisco Business Times and recognition in the Northern California Real Estate Women of Influence Hall of Fame.124
