    Barbara Dorris

Author/Speaker, VPIn, CSO at spark technologie

Barbara Dorris is the victims outreach director for Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests (SNAP), where she helps hundreds of people in the US and worldwide.1 She is also an author and speaker, client advocate, and Retained VPIn/CSO at spark technologie.2

In 2017, Dorris, along with SNAP and other members, were defendants in a lawsuit filed by a former employee, Gretchen Rachel Hammond.35 Hammond alleged she was fired after discovering that SNAP was exploiting survivors by accepting financial kickbacks from attorneys in exchange for referring them as clients. These attorneys would then file lawsuits against the Catholic Church.3 According to the court filing, SNAP claimed nonprofit, tax exempt status, but Hammond alleged it was a commercial operation motivated by animus against the Catholic Church, receiving substantial contributions from attorneys.3 Dorris stated she had no information and could not comment on the lawsuit.3

In addition to her work with SNAP, a StoryCorps Archive description indicates that Barbara Dorris, age 66 in 2014, discussed being a teacher who discovered her children were being sexually abused.4
