Prof. Dr. Mark Herkenrath (*1972), PhD, is the Director of Alliance Sud, the Swiss Coalition of Development Organisations.

With extensive experience in international finance and tax policy, he served as the Senior Policy Officer at Alliance Sud from 2008 to 2015.

Prof. Herkenrath contributed his expertise to the Swiss government's Advisory Committee on International Development Cooperation from 2012 to 2015.

Recognized for his contributions to academia, he was appointed as a Professor by the University of Zurich in 2017 where he also undertakes teaching responsibilities in the field of Sociology.

Prof. Herkenrath holds a PhD and a Master of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Zurich, and he also completed a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Modern Non-Profit Organization Management at Université de Genève.
