Bob Hendriks is a seasoned professional with 25 years of experience in programme design and management, inclusive and sustainable urban development, and institutional development.
His expertise encompasses urban governance, urban infrastructures, climate change, resilient cities and communities, urban & regional planning, responsible land governance, pro-poor water and sanitation, affordable housing, informal settlements improvement, political economy analysis, and urban political settlements.
Bob has extensive knowledge and familiarity with procedures and operations of international donor agencies such as UN-Habitat, World Bank, EU, AfD, SIDA, KfW, EIB, NL-MoFA, IDRC, Nuffic.
He has a strong background in strategy development, institutional development, and capacity building, including comprehensive institutional, capacity, and training needs assessments.
With a proven track record in developing and maintaining collaborative partnerships with governments, civil society, and private sector stakeholders, Bob is skilled in proposal development, project financial management, and MEL frameworks.
His country experience includes work in Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Turkey, Netherlands, and Germany.
Bob Hendriks pursued a PhD in Human Geography, Planning, and International Development Studies at the University of Amsterdam and holds a Master's degree in Public Administration with honors from Radboud University.
He currently serves as a Senior Expert in Cities and Urban Resilience, Sustainable Urban Development, and Institutional Development as a freelancer.
Bob's previous roles include Team Leader and Institutional Development Expert on various sustainable urban development projects in countries like Uganda and Kenya.
He has also worked as a Principal Consultant to UN-Habitat/GLTN, a PhD Research Fellow in Nairobi, and in several advisory and managerial positions in the field of urban development and governance.
