Carmen Palafox is a rising star in the world of Venture Capital. Currently serving as a Partner at MiLA Capital, a seed-stage VC firm, her primary focus is on funding tech startups that make an impact in the real world. Her educational background includes a BA in Economics, an MA in Sports Management, and an MBA from the prestigious Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley.
Prior to joining MiLA Capital, Carmen spent a significant amount of time at Dimensional Fund Advisors, where she climbed up the ranks and eventually became Vice President of Investment Operations. During her tenure, she scaled operations into LATAM, Canada, and Europe, resulting in an increase in assets under management from $75 billion to $300 billion.
Carmen is an advocate for the power of capital markets to spur growth and innovation, and she enjoys coaching entrepreneurs on finance and strategic planning. Her hard work and dedication have not gone unrecognized. She was awarded the Rising Star Award from the Los Angeles Latino Chamber of Commerce and was spotlighted by the NVCA as a Rising Star in VC. Carmen has also been featured in LA Magazine as one of the most powerful women in Los Angeles.
