Wilderness EMT, Biology Major, and Aspiring Physician

My responsibilities include rooming patients, obtaining
vital signs, performing diagnostic tests, administering vaccines, and handling administrative duties to prepare the providers. To provide multi-specialty services, we had four
physicians who would each spend one day at the clinic to offer additional care. These specialties included family medicine, pediatrics, cardiology, and
otolaryngology. I worked as the medical assistant supporting this rotating physician position.

Medical Assistant

As an EMT, I responded to emergencies to provide immediate medical treatment and ensure safe transport of patients to higher care. Additionally, I was an intern for the Emergency Services Department for the park. In this position I created and implemented the Incident Command System plan for the Emergency Services branch to address extremely high volume of visitors during the Total Solar Eclipse event. I also organized medical and structural fire trainings on a weekly basis to ensure preparedness of equipment and crew.

EMT and Emergency Services Intern for Grand Teton National Park

Tutored students with learning disabilities in chemistry and biology to provide individualized academic support. Rapidly assessed student’s learning style and adapted instructional approach to facilitate comprehension of material.

Tutor in Biology and Chemistry

Investigated relationships between the melanocortin peptides, melanocortin receptors and accessory proteins for 5 hours per week to gain experience in molecular biology laboratory techniques. Practiced laboratory procedures and interpreted results to gain further understanding of research-based endocrinology studies.

Molecular Endocrinology Research Elective

Performed basic life support (BLS) care as a primary provider and assisted paramedics in the busiest EMS district in Yellowstone National Park. Volunteered full time 40 hours per week and responded to after hour calls. Additionally, assumed responsibility of ensuring proper stocking of ambulances and assisted in administrative duties

EMT in Yellowstone National Park 

This position involves processing the biomechanical data of patients with joint replacements. Specifically, the movement of bones and associated implants are tracked through biplanar x-ray video sequences and MRI images.

Undergraduate Research Assistant Human Dynamics Labratory

Taught tennis to the youth of local community. While coaching, I focused on teaching the basics of the game, the importance of physical activity, and how to have fun while doing so. I used my experience as captain of variety Tennis, Ski Racing, and Soccer to effectively serve as a leader.
