She spent some time at Distell, first as a New Product Development Technologist, then rising the ranks to Sensory Research Manager, and finally Consumer Insights Manager- Southern Africa and Global. Currently, Schmidt is the Private Label Innovation and Projects Manager at The Shoprite Group of Companies. She has a wealth of knowledge and expertise when it comes to consumer insights, sensory research, new product development, and project management.
