Roya Mahboob is an accomplished Afghan entrepreneur and philanthropist whose focus is on digital literacy for women and children in developing countries. She is the founder and CEO of Afghan Citadel Software Company (ACSC), which provides job opportunities for recent graduates, especially girls, and helps them find opportunities in the new IT markets of Afghanistan. Her primary goal is to bridge the gap between developed and developing countries by offering practical online skills through her new company and platform EdyEdy for youth in developing countries. Roya is also a board member and president of the Digital Citizen Fund, a non-profit organization focused on digital literacy to empower women and children in developing countries. Furthermore, she sits on the advisory board of Forbes School of Business at Ashford University, Resolution Project, and the Global Thinkers Forum organization. She is a member of the 2014 Tribeca Disruptive Innovation Awards, Civic Innovators, and Young Leader of World Economic Form. In 2013, Roya was named one of TIME Magazine's 100 Most Influential People in the World for her work in building internet classrooms in high schools in Afghanistan, and the essay for the TIME 100 was written by none other than Facebook COO, Sheryl Sandberg, author of “Lean In: Women, Work and the Will to Lead”.
