Matthew Kamakani Lynch is a renowned sustainability expert, community developer, and environmental advocate based in Hawaii. With over a decade of experience in real estate and mortgage banking, Matt transitioned into sustainable development for the betterment of communities in Hawaii, Laos, Mongolia, and Vanuatu. Currently, he serves as the Director of Sustainability Initiatives for the ten campuses of the University of Hawai'i System, where his work focuses on catalyzing institutional transformation, developing business models that restore ecological systems, and building authentic human connections amidst technological advances and social unrest. As part of his mission to create sustainable communities, he is the Chairperson of the Board of Directors for Kahumana Organic Farm, a social enterprise working to improve the lives of residents on O'ahu at the intersection of transitional housing, mental health, and regenerative farming. Matt also teaches Faculty for Harvard's Executive Education for Sustainability Leadership program, and as a former Founder and Director at the Asia-Pacific Center for Regenerative Design, he has received commendations for his expertise in sustainability and environmental advocacy both locally and internationally.
