Mercedes Gallego is a seasoned foreign correspondent with nearly two decades of experience, specializing in both US politics and international affairs. She is passionate about amplifying the voices of marginalized communities, covering wars and natural disasters, and uncovering the human side of significant events. Gallego has covered some of the most challenging events of our time, from guerrilla wars in Mexico and Central America to Sept. 11, to the Iraq war, as well as many elections. She has brought waves of solidarity through her coverage of natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and the earthquake in Haiti. Gallego has worked as a US Bureau Chief and Correspondent at El Correo, serving as Correspondent for Mexico, Caribbean and Latin America at El Correo, and served as Reporter for the Mexican edition for Latin America at El País. She has studied at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
