Michael Chu is a renowned global businessman who co-founded L Catterton in 1989, one of the largest consumer-focused private equity firms in the world. With over 30 years of experience in the industry, Michael has helped shape L Catterton into a company that is recognized worldwide for its expertise in growth equity.
His educational background includes a B.A. with highest honors in Psychology and Economics from Bates College, where he was also a member of the Board of Trustees from 1995 to 2013.
Before co-founding L Catterton, Michael held senior financial management positions with The First Pacific Company, a publicly listed investment and management company in Hong Kong.
Michael's leadership has led L Catterton to complete over 175 investments, including Peloton Cycle, Equinox Gyms, and Restoration Hardware. The firm's investment return profile has been consistently at the top of the private equity industry. L Catterton welcomed the Louis Vuitton Moet Henessey Group (LVMH) and Groupe Arnault as minority partners at the end of 2015.
In addition to his professional achievements, Michael is a member of the Committee of 100, a leading Chinese-American philanthropic organization.
