Renee l Fabus
Renee L. Fabus is a highly experienced and accomplished speech-language pathologist with over 24 years of experience. Fabus holds a Ph.D. and MPhil. degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Columbia University in the City of New York, as well as an MS in Speech-Language Pathology from Teachers College, Columbia University. She also studied psychology at New York University, and Higher Education Leadership at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
As the founder/chair of the Speech-Language Pathology Department and Program Director for the SLP Program at Stony Brook Medicine, Fabus has a passion for investigating the neurological underpinnings of many communication disorders to develop better means of assessment and intervention. Her research interests and goals are focused on investigating functional aspects of neurological communication disorders.
Fabus has varied clinical expertise in the following areas: language disorders in children from birth to three years of age, childhood apraxia of speech, TBI, aphasia, swallowing disorders in adults, and stuttering in children and adults.
In addition to her clinical expertise, Fabus has held numerous roles and responsibilities throughout her career, including chair of the proposed Speech Language Pathology Program at Stony Brook University, Interim Director of Rehabilitation Research and Movement Performance Lab (RRAMP Lab), Associate Dean for Research at Stony Brook University, President at The Long Island Speech-Language Hearing Association, Associate Professor at Adelphi University, and Assistant Professor- tenured at Brooklyn College CUNY.
