Roger Taylor
Roger Taylor is a British entrepreneur, writer, and regulator, with a passion for making the power of data and automated systems work for the benefit of all. He holds an MSc in Economics from Birkbeck, University of London, and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from the University of Oxford.
Taylor founded and served as co-director of research at Dr Foster, which provided data analysis for health care providers, regulators, and researchers. He has also worked in healthcare and education services in regulation and efforts to give individuals greater ability to shape the services they receive. He authored "God Bless the NHS", which describes the history of the battle between governments and professionals for control over health services.
Currently, Taylor is the Chair of the Centre for Data Ethics and Innovation, a new organization that aims to establish world-leading standards of ethical practice and accountability to customers, citizens, and society within the UK's AI industry. He is also a former Chair at Ofqual, a national body that regulates qualifications, exams, and tests in England, and a former national professional advisor on intelligence at Care Quality Commission.
As an entrepreneur, writer, and regulator, Taylor is interested in transparency and open society, healthcare and education services, and data ethics and innovation.
