Cassia Herron is a leader in Kentucky's local food movement and a passionate advocate for racial justice and community development. She holds a Masters in Urban Planning from the University of Michigan and a Masters in Agricultural Economics from the University of Kentucky. Herron has worked in various roles, including community development consultant, public engagement project manager, grants management specialist, and economic development officer at the Louisville Metro Economic Development Department. She currently serves as the Co-Founder and President of the Louisville Association for Community Economics, leading efforts to educate the community about cooperative economics and open the Louisville Community Grocery as the city's only grocery co-op. She is also on the board of Kentuckians for the Commonwealth, teaches at Bellarmine University, and contributes to the LEO Weekly. With a focus on equity and community wealth creation, Herron inspires citizens to envision and create a new economy based on cooperation and fairness.
