Technical Support Engineer

Evening Python-based Developer Bootcamp.The course covers fulls stack web application development and important developer practices including agile, source control, testing, and debugging. Specific technologies worked with include Python, Django, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML5, and CSS3. Coaches Flow is a SaaS (Software as a Service) application I helped to develop using agile methodologies. My partner and I conducted over 30 in-person and online customer interviews to validate and inform the development of the software. We used many lean-start-up principles as outlined in the book Running Lean by Ash Maurya.  As of winter 2015, Coaches Flow is completing alpha and moving into beta. Skills:I developed the content and the website for the Coaches Flow tutorial and documentation. I used the Foundation front-end framework from Zurb for the layout of the sites, and customized them using HTML and CSS. I used Photoshop for screen capture and image manipulation where I added arrows and other features to help visually demonstrate the steps in the lessons. I used Txt2tags, a markup document generator for authoring the content and managed version control using TortoiseHG with Mercurial. I also used Screencast-O-Matic for screen cast videos.

QuarkSpring is founded by myself and my co-founder Jamil Alvi.  We create products, help build systems and better solutions for small business. Our first product is Coaches Flow, an online SaaS tool for life, business, and health coaches to manage their client relationships. Homeschool Catalyst was a SaaS business idea who's goal was to provide homeschooling parents an online planning tool (also called Homeschool Catalyst) to synthesize the planning, scheduling, and recording of the myriad activities, classes, lessons, teaching moments, resources and the kitchen sink that comprise a homeschooler's days, weeks, months, and years.I applied for and was accepted into the "It's Your Time" Entrepreneur Training Program and business plan competition through the Inland Empire Women's Business Center Skills I developed while creating my business plan:- attended workshops on marketing, e-marketing, social media marketing, business plan writing, financial statements, elevator pitches, vision boards, starting a business- consulted with a lawyer, social media expert, and accountant as part of the program requirements- used what I learned to conduct a market analysis of the homeschooling demographic- created a survey using Wufoo (since bought by Survey Monkey) which I sent to my email group (managed on MailChimp) for customer validation of my ideas.- I created a landing page and blog to support the project. Despite a plethora of ideas and an award-winning business plan, the concept for Homeschool Catalyst failed to resonate fully with the co-founders. In the end, Homeschool Catalyst was a great learning experience and the founders have taken what they learned and pivoted into a new venture: QuarkSpring and Coaches Flow.
