Awais Jafar

Awais Jafar is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Chicago with a focus on Natural Language Processing and Computer Vision. His research projects involve abstractive summarization, keyphrase extraction, and regularization of deep neural networks. Prior to his Ph.D., Awais worked as a research and development engineer at SlashNext, a network security startup in California, where he developed machine learning techniques for detecting zero-day threats.

Awais holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and a master's degree in Computer Science, graduating summa cum laude. During his master's studies, he contributed to various research projects, including Moodistan, a program funded by USAID to analyze and aggregate news for promoting transparency in news sources.

At the University of Illinois at Chicago, Awais serves as a Graduate Research Assistant. He has also held positions such as Chief Executive Officer at Reefew and Research Assistant at Lahore University of Management Sciences. His diverse educational background and professional experience demonstrate his expertise in research, machine learning, and data analysis.
