Assaf Schuster
Prof. at Technion
Assaf Schuster is a distinguished computer scientist and educator, currently serving as a Professor at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science and Philosophy from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where he focused on the dynamic configuration of communication networks for parallel computation. His academic career at Technion began in 1991, where he has made significant contributions to the fields of distributed algorithms, network protocols, and cloud computing.1
In addition to his role at Technion, Schuster is a Visiting Researcher at Microsoft, where he has spent summers since 2007. His research interests include distributed computing and big data, and he has authored over 200 papers on these subjects. Schuster's work has garnered multiple awards, including being named a Fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery in 2015 for his contributions to cloud computing.23
Beyond academia, Schuster co-founded a startup called Cy-oT (Cyber of Things), where he served as CTO until its acquisition by Verint in 2019. He is also actively involved in the technology community, participating in various conferences and serving on program committees.13
