Ashford Hughes Sr. is a seasoned government and political professional known for his work in addressing complex issues surrounding organizational diversity, equity, and inclusion.

With a background in Political Science and Government from Tennessee State University, Ashford has honed his skills in communication and problem-solving, enabling him to develop effective solutions.

Throughout his career, Ashford has held key roles in various organizations, including serving as the Executive Officer for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Metro Nashville Public Schools and as the Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer at Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County.

His expertise extends to collaborating with nonprofit, grassroots, business, and government leaders, showcasing his proficiency in fostering relationships across different sectors.

Ashford's professional journey has also seen him assume roles such as Diverity, Equity and Inclusion Consultant at Blueprint Solutions Group, LLC, Senior Advisor to the Mayor on Labor and Workforce Development, and Assistant Business Manager at LIUNA.

Prior to these engagements, he made significant contributions as a Political Director at the Tennessee Democratic Party, Deputy Campaign Manager for Burt Dodson for State Senate, Campaign Manager for Megan Barry for Metro Council At-Large, and Field Director/Political Director for Rob Miller for Congress.
