Aron Brouwer

Aron Brouwer is a dedicated History PhD student with a keen focus on transnational fascism and anti-fascist activism at the University of Pennsylvania.

His academic journey includes earning his B.A. and Research M.A. in History from the University of Amsterdam, where he delved into various historical topics such as Interwar Europe, East Asian history, economic history, book history, and translation studies.

Aron has a track record of publication on diverse historical subjects, including the Armenian genocide, Digital Humanities, Adolf Hitler, and French Intellectual History during his time at the University of Amsterdam.

He received national recognition for his exceptional work on the ideological foundations of Hitler's worldview, winning the National Bachelor Thesis Award for the best historical B.A. thesis in the Netherlands in 2015.

In his recent projects, Aron co-authored a biography on William of Orange and conducted a detailed analysis of translations of Hitler's 'Mein Kampf' from Chinese, Dutch, English, French, and Italian, highlighting ideological repackaging and rhetorical reframing.

Under the guidance of Prof. Warren Breckman and Prof. Roger Chartier, he continues to explore the impact of translation on politically sensitive texts in his dissertation project at Penn.

Beyond academia, Aron has been involved in various roles including founder and owner at Meneer Thee, book author at Uitgeverij Nieuw Amsterdam, and research and teaching positions at the University of Amsterdam and Leiden University.

His diverse educational background includes studies at the National Taiwan Normal University, Netherlands-Asia Honours Summer School, and completion of programs at the Instituut voor Interdisciplinaire Studies.
