Armor Harris

Armor Harris is a senior aerospace engineer with extensive experience at SpaceX. He served as Director of Satellite Bus Engineering at SpaceX from August 2019 to December 2022.1 During his tenure, he led engineering teams for the Starlink satellite program, gateway ground infrastructure, and business strategy/analysis.1 Under his leadership, the team successfully designed, built, and launched over 1800 satellites in 18 months across 28 Falcon 9 launches, establishing the first generation Starlink constellation.1

As Lead Propulsion Engineer, Harris led the satellite propulsion team responsible for designing, testing, producing, and operating SpaceX's electric propulsion thrusters.1 His team was the first to fly a krypton-powered thruster in space.1

Harris holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Boston University, where he founded the BU Rocket Propulsion Group.1

Recently, in March 2024, Harris left SpaceX to join Shield AI, where he now leads aircraft engineering.2
