Associate Professor
April J. Mayes is the Warren Finney Day Professor of History and Associate Dean of the College at Pomona College in Claremont, California.35 She is an American historian specializing in the history and social issues of the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean region.3
Dr. Mayes completed her undergraduate studies at Pomona College, where she was involved in community engagement work.4 She then earned her Ph.D. in History from the University of Michigan.2 After completing her doctorate, she returned to Pomona College in 2006 to begin teaching.3
